Another week, another problem with DS (list included)
I don't know where to begin. The problems have been mounting up for a few months. Early on, it was easy to put up with. Now, I've got to the point where I can't work with the program (although that's really for the saftey of my computer). Here's the list:
- Genesis 1-8.1 meshes are distorted - It's worse when some morphs are loaded.
- Anatomical Elements have same distortion problems, too.
- All poses need re-adjusting - (example) Hands either collide into the model, or are nowhere near where they're meant to be. I've tried using Adjust rigging to shape, but it doesn't work.
- Eyes lids don't meet in the middle (they crash into each other and go into each other), and the lashes come away from the lids (when closed).
- Weights seem "off"
- Converted poses: I can convert poses, but I can't use them. When I load a converted pose, the model just rotates on the axis.
I make and rig my own characters on my laptop. They are then transferred to my rendering PC. So (obviously) the problem lies with my PC (again).
Has anyone had any of these problems before?
I'm guessing some of you will need (or want) to know my computer specs. It's attached to the first post in the following thread: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/572376/my-pc-daz-won-t-render-again#latest
I'm getting really tired of this cr@p... And that Cloudflare thing...
Thanks for any advice.

...I've pretty much avoided 8.1 save for one character I purchased during the Daz+ sale to test if it could be converted to G3. It didn't work as the head didn't scale correctly and there were depressions along the jaw and on the temple, however, it cost only 3.73$. so not a big loss.
I also tried it in Daz 4.15 and had the same results so it isn't 4.20.
Almost all of that, except for the pose conversion issue, sounds like you've got a morph somewhere with a non-zero default value.
I don't have any of those issues and I use DS daily with a ton of products and several libraries. Then again, I am not using 4.20 yet
you have likely saved over the base figure with something dialed in, load up the base and look under used
Yeah, this sounds like a character's screwing everything up. This isn't a Daz Studio issue.
Does Edit>Figure>Zero>Zero Figure Shape help?
Okay. With everyone saying the same thing, I've been looking over my morphs. Everything seems to be fine with the base figures. But when I load in a character there are "CTRL_RIG" and "pjc" morphs listed. Normally, they would be hidden.
The list of the CTRL_RIG morphs is really long, plus they're all locked. But they don't show up with every character/morph that's loaded onto the figure. I've even tried deleting the folder for those morphs, but when I dial in the character they reappear, and the folder returns to the "data" directory.
As for pjc. My rendering computer isn't on at the moment, so I can't check if I've got the letter order right for those morphs. These only show up with Genesis 3 and/or 8. Again, they only appear when certain character morphs are added to the figure (they would also be hidden). I haven't looked at the "data" folder directory, but I imagine that these would behave in the same way as the CTRL_RIG when deleted.
I've tried uninstalling, then (re-)installing all Starter Essentials several times now, but it hasn't solved the problem.
Having said that, I have had installation problems. I've had Iray Shaders disappear. DIM had to be reinstalled, so now it doesn't know what products I've got installed (or where). The installation paths were changed (not by me). I've had to download Genesis 2 Starter Essentials through Daz Connect... There's probably more, but now I've got a headache trying to think about everything that's happened in the past few months.
I hope that all makes sense. I'll edit this when I find out/confirm what the pjc morphs are really called.
Is there anyway to mass unlock (and reset) morphs? Otherwise, it's going to take ages to unlock and reset all of the CTRL_Rig morphs.
When a morph is causing problems, reinstalling DS and/or starter essentials does not help as the problem is not with DS and/or starter essentials, one needs to identify the morph.
UPDATE: The problem with Genesis 8 appears to be caused by the morphs that are in the Base Correctives folder (in the data directory).
While I was checking this out, my computer had two of its infamous "random restarts" - Coincidentally, it was while I was waiting for G8F to load (just to confirm the folder). So at the moment, I can't re-check G2F (Security and Maintenance lists both as unexpected shutdowns).
