Kitten Effect

I hope this doesn't gross anyone out, but I want to create a funny kitten image using Moshi the Kitten with blood on it's mouth and feathers floating in the air, like it just ate a bird! LOL

I have a bunch of decals in DAZ Studio, but I've tried every one of them and nothing shows up.

Is there a product that can actually do something like that? Like a puddle of blood? They all seem to be designed for human figures, like for vampires.

I also wonder if there are any feathers in DAZ. I didn't see any. So I might have to use clip art.

I was wondering if that was like the "Butterfly Effect"... where if you time travel and step on a butterfly it can change the future... I'd imagine stepping on a kitten is a lot worse...

Most of the 3D feather models I've seen are either too bulky looking or kinda off one way or another... or they are really expensive...

Maybe this could help... it's a dream catcher with feathers, perhaps you could separate the feathers from the rest of the model?

Or there might be other dream catcher models out there you could use the feathers from?

Honestly, I'd just use cut out photo images in postwork because I'm totally that lazy.

    Thank you.

I just used some PNG files on the internet for the effect I needed. I don't do 3D as a finished work, I just use it as reference for my paintings. So I can improvise. I actually find it harder and more time consuming to come up with a finished and polished 3D image, than to do a painting with some "slapped together" reference photos.

Maybe you could use some goo and color it blood.

For the blood on the mouth, you could just make a separate copy of the UV map to alter and add the bloodstains to the area around the mouth... that wouldn't really be hard, especially since you seem to be familiar with image editing software... maybe in locating the exact area (depending on the way it was mapped), but a little bit of dark red streaking on the mouth fur would be sufficient to convey the idea.

From my observation of cats that hunt mice and birds, there usually isn't that much blood on the mouth area, as it's usually just a little staining of the fur, but if you are going for an exaggerated image with more blood gushing, that's something else.

    haha. yes. i agree

I ended up just using some random blood png i found  on the internet, and some blue feathers applied with cut and paste

I'll try to post the painting once it is completed. this is just the reference for the painting...
