Iray and vascularity

I've been experimenting with Iray and love the more realistic effects achieved with preset render settings, although the images are rather 'softer'. I particularly like the 'Painter's lights' product that was posted in the DAZ shop yesterday. However, I cannot get anything like the same vascularity on characters that was usual with 3Delight. In the latter, I had to be careful to avoid the subjects being too 'anatomical' but with Iray vascularity is barely noticeable. Any ideas?

If it is anything like Luxrender, you might have to up the SubD level in the parameters tab to level 3. Although that seems to have changed recently and now there is a View level and a Render level and I'm not sure which needs to be changed.

    Hi Marble,

That worked, thanks! I set Render SubD level to 3 and the effect was too much so set it to 2 and the result was perfect. Changing View SubD level was not successful and I thought the render was unrealistic. Thanks again!

Oh good, I'm pleased that helped. We both learned something :)

This worked great. I couldn't figure out why the vascularity wasn't showing up either. Thanks!

Yes, for all displacement related items, SubD levels in Iray will need to be set manually.
