Question About Horse Hairs *Solved*

So I'm looking at 2 different products, DA dForce Mane and Tail for Horse 2 and DA Dark Unicorn for Daz Horse 2.  They both look like they provide dForce mane and tails for the Daz Horse 2.  The first one looks like it has more pose and length options, while the second has feathered legs and chest hair included.

Has anyone purchased either/both of these products?  I'm skeptical as to how well they really work, and how hard they are to use.  I guess I would say I'm beginner to intermediate with dForce?  I can do timeline simulations, and sometimes can get a wind node to work.  Would either of these be a good product to invest in?

Also, I thought I'd throw this out there while I'm asking.  Does anybody have any idea if either of these can be somehow used on the Hivewire Horse?  I really love using both the Daz Horse 2 and the Hivewire Horse for different purposes.

Absolutely any info you have would be helpful, or even just images you've made with these products!

Edit - I decided to go with the DA dForce Mane and Tail for Horse 2, it looks easier to use and seems to have more options, plus there are many more images of it being used in the gallery.

If you have the Daz Deals add-on, you can easily check out dozens of images and several forum posts about these products.

I have Design Anvil's dForce Mane and Tail and love it. It drapes fast for me but I've never attempted using Wind Nodes with this hair product. I also have the Clydesdale product and it includes the dForce leg hair (fetlocks?). The only issue I have is with my version of Daz Studio. 4.11 does not keep draped hair between opening and closing the scenes. So when I'm ready to render, I drape the mane and tail , then immediately render the scene. Honestly, the DA horse stuff is such great quality (he's one of my fave PAs anyway), and they are far superior to the old mane and tail if your system can support dForce hair.

Thank you for the idea, Sevrin, I downloaded that extension and checked out the info I found.  It helped drastically!  There are so many beautiful images in the gallery with DA dForce Mane and Tail for Horse 2.  Unfortunately there are very few images with the other one.

Thank you, GlenWebb, it's always good to hear from people who actually have the product.  I'm glad you like it, and I see that the Clydesdale product's fetlocks look better to me than the others, so I'll just wait and pick it up another day to get a complete hair set.

I tried using the dForce mane and tail on Hivewire horse, and had the same issue as when I typically try to fit things between Horse 2 and centaurs: DS doesn't really know what to do with the different scale and rig, and it just "fits" by keeping the item where it is. Has anyone tried making an autofit clone for Horse 2 and/or Hivewire Horse?

  • The HiveWired3D store had a Tack Conversion Kit, which included a Daz Horse 2 shape pose for the HiveWire3D Horse. Unfortunately, the product doesn't look like it was transfered to Rendo after the HW3D store closed.
