UltraScatter Pro - Tree Scatter Issue
I appologize if I'm posting this in the wrong forum. I tried searching, but couldn't find my issue. I've been trying to learn UltraScatter Pro, and I think I have a pretty good undertanding of how to use it.
But, I'm having an issue with tree props. I use just regular tree props, purchased here at DAZ, so I must be setting something wrong in UltraScatter.
When I select the tree and set the parameters in US, the instances are blown apart. leaves not connected to truncks, branches floating in air.
How to I correct this so US handles it at just one whole prop?? What am I doing wrong? If there's someplace else I should enquire about this, please let know.
Thank you any information!

It looks like that elm tree is not a single object, but instead is a group of individual objects (trunk, branches, and leaves perhaps). When UltraScatterPro scatters a group, it scatters the individual elements of the group individually, randomly mixed throughout the scatter. To scatter a whole tree, select a tree that is a single object. You can use the group scatter function to your advantage by creating your own group of trees (each tree being a single object) and UltraScatterPro will mix the different trees throughout, so that you don't end up with all identical trees.
You may find some UltraScatterPro inspiration or tips in my thread UltraScatterPro Experiments and Experiences.
If your heart is set on using that particular elm tree, you can select all parts of the tree and export it as OBJ. Then import the single OBJ into Daz Studio and apply the correct materials to each part. Save that as a new prop. Then scatter that single object tree prop instead of the group. This technique may be beyond "New User" skills, though.
@jgmart,
In addition to @barbult’s feedback, have you tried scattering with a tree other than the one in your image? Have you tried with a primitive? I bought US Pro three years ago but by no means am I an expert with it. Since I retired three years ago, I want to “play” with as much of the DS & Poser content that I’ve acquired over 15 years; as a result, I don’t spend as much time with any single item as I should to get noticeably better with it. :(
Below is a screen capture in which I have loaded an oak tree (single object) and a plane and used US to make 20 scattered copies of the tree on the plane. In the second screen capture, I created a cylinder primitive and imported into US the settings as I used for the tree.
@barbult - Thank you so much for the feedback. You are right! The tree I was trying to use has 3 parts. I tried other trees that were one piece and they scattered with no issues. Also, I do like your idea of grouping trees first, then scattering. Thanks again for this info!
@jjoyner - Thank you for your feedback. I'm able to duplicate you examples you shared. My issue was a tree with multiple parts. I'll stick to single part vegatation, or export an obj if I want a multi part tree.
Happy to hear the info was helpful and you are on your way to success!
Glad to be of some assistance.
