Both characters in scene zeroing for sim no matter what!

I know there are other threads on this, but my experience seems to be defying the advice given. I have two characters in a scene, both of which zero out when I start the sim. I only want to sim two items on ONE of the characters, so I have made the second character and everything he's wearing invisible to the sim in the sim panel (Parameters), though the Freeze Simulation seems to be missing in 4.2+. Still, dforce insists on treating him as if he's part of the sim. This is very time consuming and frustrating. How can I limit the sim to ONLY the desired items?

Thank you!

If you have set him to visible in simulation to 'off', how do you then determin that he is active in the simulation?

And remember items he is wearing must have that setting too.

He's active in the sim because he goes to the zero pose on the timeline at the start no matter what I do. All of his clothing and hair is also set to off. I only want to sim the clothing on the other character.

The timeline is shared among all items thats uses timeline.

And if there is some kyeframes for him in the timeline, they will be played along the timeline.

But that does not mean that he is part of the simulation.

True. But doesn't that still consume resources unnecassarily? How do I cut him oiut of the sim entirely?

If he is set to visible in simulation to off, he is not part of the simulation. If you dragged him right through your clothing during simulation, he wouldn't interfere.

But if it disturbs you to have him there I suggest to click on the eye icon in the scene tab so you won't see him.

cmd(Mac)/ctrl(Win) click to hide the figure and anything parented to it.

     Thanks, I'll try that.

Yeah - when I discovered that nice little trick it started saving me lots of time and frustration. Heaven knows, dForce consumes far too much time as it is without having to search/click on the visibility of every parented item.
