Converting items and clothing from 8 to 8.1?

Hello Dazfam :)

I have just been getting into Daz Studio over the last few weeks, Its been great fun and I have learned a heck of a lot.

I was wondering if its possible to convert items and clothing from 8 to 8.1 (fairly) easily? basically I have an 8.1 charachter, and I really want them to have braces. But all the tooth braces currently available are for G8. I have had some success with "fit to" with other items, but the braces dont have this option when I right click them.

Is it possible for a relative noob who has some previous experience with 3d modeling to convert them manually?

Thanks!

It should work automatically for most things - some script-based products may fail, and there may be slight issues with soem products using Geometry Shells (usually ebcause they are using a script)..

  • Thanks for the reply! So I figured out shortly after posting this that I was being a dimwit, and I did actually manage to get them onto my charachter, but they dont fit quite right. They look fine at the front, but as the contour of the mouth moves around, they sort of sink into the teeth. But its barely noticable and I guess I can fix that with a quick trip to Blender.

Is this on a default figure or is there a morph applied?

Are these "Z Braces Are Cool"? They are not conformng figures, merely props that fit the base figures and Victoria 8 / Michael 8. Any morphs that shape the teeth will likely mess up the fit. But no need for back and forth with Blender. Just scale and/or translate them along different axes, maybe helped with the Studio built-in D-Former (or Mesh Grabber).
