Using Mask files in Textures.

A model I'm working on converting to DAZ (see elsewhere for gory details) has a few image maps that came with it.

One is labeled as: mpm_F18_icons_mask.JPG

There's an area where this file goes. (1st pic). It was easily selectable in geometry editor and made it's own surface.

With the file applied, it lines up the icons where they should be (2nd picture) but obviously the tecxture it's supposed to overlay isn't there.

I can likely take care of this in photshop with just making a diffuse mask for this, but is there a way to have the regular texture and then apply the mask over it?

if the mask you have is a black and white image then place it in the Opacity strength channel for 3delight surfaces, For Iray this is called Cutout.

You could use the mask in Diffuse strength on a standard shader, or you could create a new shader in Shader Mixer and use the mask to mix two materials. Although I think you will possibly need to edit the mask so it fills the uv map for the surface it goes on - it's not clear if it does that now or not.
