can't get genesis 3 eyes to work anymore on g8.1

I do not know what I'm doing wrong here. Yesterday I was able to get these eyes working on g8.1f. I can STILL get them to work on only this specific instance of this character, but I can't on a freshly loaded g8.1f or m.

You will see in this pic how they are not working:

 

 

The female is made with Zurie so I tried applying Zurie eyes to him and applying it. That didn't work so I tried copying and pasting directly from the female. That also didn't work. Tried it again with a fresh male; did not work. Tried both male and female versions of the eyes; no difference.The female is currently wearing g3m eyes.

I am distressed. I don't understand what I could've done for this to work right out of the box before that I can't do now?

i loaded a skin onto a fresh model and was able to get it to work. it's a genesis 8 skin. now how do i get it to work on genesis 8.1?

The first thing that comes to mind is that you may need to manually adjust the UV map setting in the Surfaces tab.

Just spitballing here, were the G3 eyes you're trying to use pre- or post-Iray?
