Wow. A basic Tow Truck.
Another one of those items you'd think think there'd at least be ONE with all the other vehicles on this sight AND Rendo.
Nada. Zip. <feel free to add your own>
Any suggestions?

If a vehicle gets stuck, Genesis 8.1 is going to have to push the thing out.![cheeky cheeky](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/tongue_smile.png)
Of course.
And in the digital realm, nuttin' breaks anyway, right?
....thats when you go to your library archive and pull out Freak5.
Always. Trick is figuring out if they are any good. Maybe kit-bash? A combination of the (cherry picker lift arm) + (box truck lift) from https://www.daz3d.com/toon-truck reskined and added to a truck of your choice might work. Another options is a flat bed truck: https://www.daz3d.com/predatron-light-truck I've seen these used with a winch to tow away vehicles. The later might be best.
the tow trucks here are commonly flat bed trucks with winches now, often have up to 4 cars on them, don't think I have seen the old style in years
Ya, I may have to.
I've a good flatbad, but it's being used at the moment ...
When doing that kind of transport on german roads the load would have to be secured with some belts to keep it in place and would get an yellow flag (iirc) attached to the end of the tail, marking it as a "long vehicle" or protruding freight...
I'd suggest looking at 3D Warehouse, but now you'd need to have an old copy of SketchUp (2017) and the free plug-in Open Newer by Eneroth to open the models and export as a .DAE... Trimble who now owns SketchUp decided to kill off the free version of SketchUp (SketchUp is $$$$ subscription only now) a while back and now they have eliminated the .DAE format from the downloadable formats at 3D Warehouse.
That having been said, if it's something you can do, have an older version of SU and are interested, here is the plug-in that allows you to open newer SketchUp models in older software versions...

There is a pretty decent lowish resolution GMC Topkick flatbed here...

Flatbeds are the most common type of tow truck nowadays because most modern cars don't do well with being towed the traditional method...
My guess why nobody bothers to make a DAZ/Poser tow truck is that rigging an old fashioned boom type or more modern Lift Jack/Yoke would be a pain in the butt with lots of moving parts that need to adjust for different types or sizes of cars... especially the old school boom type which have cables... then again accuracy isn't always a priority, but still it's complicated.
I guess one could also try a hook and chain. Though you'd then need a vehicle with the juice to move the other one.
I use Pcon planner to convert Sketchup files which I downloaded years before current world events, make sure you have a good antivirus as its Russian
A number of classic tow trucks appear in a basic search on cgtrader. Caveat, I've never used that store (or any store other than Daz).
OT: for any lurking PA's.. tow truck or tow truck mod for the pick up trucks in the store would be nice. A neat bundle would include a sedan with damage morphs.. No idea if you would make more than 1 sale though :)
Yeah, if someone made a nice, high quality tow truck, flat bed or the one with the hook, I'd buy it as that's something I don't have and could surely use.
I've no specific shot in mind and although most likeley not going to be featured prominently, ya never know when something like that will. So, I prefer a little higher rez and the proper texture maps.
All this came about working on the 50's Gas Station and then started in converting to night.
Very much a WIP ...
That's why he got pulled over in another scene I was working on. ;)
This was a test using Syflex.
Well, then use the White Road wrecker from dmi-3d.net instead. Or the Renault CHB 320
3D Warehouse had this oddball.. quick and dirty conversion and render..
When is the render supposed to be taking place?... If you are using that 50's gas station with those kind of gas pumps, then generally you'd need something more like an old fashioned pivoting A-frame boom, also known as a "hook and chain" rig... something like this...
The ones with the telescoping hydraulic boom with a fork, called "wheel lift" tow trucks probably started in Europe in the mid 70s, but didn't catch on in the US until the early 80s when cars started to get a little lighter (although my 72' Pontiac Catalina was towed once by one of those, but it looked like it was physically killing the tow truck)...
This is a wheel lift type tow truck, but it's actually more of what's called an "integrated" type tow truck... true "integrated" tow trucks generally started showing up in the late 80s early 90s... some people refer to these types as "snatchers" because they are often used for repo work and they can quickly carry off a vehicle with less effort.
As far as I know, flatbeds (aka slide bed, rollback or tilt bed) didn't become a thing, or at least start to show up in common use in the US until the early 80s at the very most, and back then they were mostly for transporting expensive cars...
Today integrated wheel lift and flatbeds are the most popular because it's very touchy (if not impossible) to try and tow a modern car with the old boom type tow trucks.
Mmm well I would if I could. How do you search that site?
Searched there but didn't find anything. Didn't see this though but it's too contemporary for what I had in mind.
Exactly McGyver. It might be a 1950's station, but it could be a 30's truck.
over at the 3d Warehouse.. theres this - 1949 Chevy, among others
Thank you so much for the link to that plugin. I use the free SkethUp 2017 but never knew there was a way to pen newer models in it.
I think this is the first time in fourteen years of posting SketchUp related information that I've actually ever helped anyone.
I'm extremely happy to have helped!
