Barely And, apparently after upgrading you won't be able to run an earlier DS build...
What I found so far... Can't use keyboard shortcuts, DS closes immediately. Certain 3DL light shaders ceased to work (OmUber UltraSoft Light kit, ultrasoft pointlight) and I can't use GenX for character creation. The UI looks like it is corrupted and distorted. If these things won't bother you, just go ahead;)
I don't believe that is the general experience
I'll hold off updating for now.
I wouldn't know about that, just talking from my own. New machine, latest OSX, fresh DS 4.20 install.
The problems with GenX Sven Dullah is talking about is an old plugin with a UI that won't be updated due to the plugin author's passing I think. The others are bespoke 3DL (RSL) shader materials and not the general 3DL (RSL) shader materials supplied with old DAZ products.
It would be interesting to know if the original DAZ Originals 3DL (RSL) shader materials still work and the iRay shader materials still work.
Uhm, the others are actually products still sold in the DAZ store, and I and others have tested them on Mac and Windows, not working under 4.20.
My real agenda here is not the DS 4.20 build, although I found it dissapointing and buggy right from the start, after having used 4.9 for many years. It's actually Apple that has made it very hard to downgrade from Monterey, meaning I now have a very fast machine for CPU rendering but my user files are mostly broken and I have to come up with the most obscure workarounds to get anything done. But yeah I won't give up, still working on it and I'll be damned if I don't find a way to use 4.9 on my new rig...
eta: Yes I can confirm that the 3DL standard shaders work, to my knowledge the latest 3DL update was in 2017. And I made a couple of simple IRay tests, no problem there so far...
