Why is my scene always lit.

Been trying to learn more about lighting. But I notice that on the you tube guides, the scenes are not lit when environment is set to scene only and the figure is like a black shadow.

I do not get that. even when the environment is set to scene only and there ae no light sources, or camera, only the figure, it remains lit.

Any help on this.

Do you have the camera headlamp on or set to auto? It's under headlamp in the camera panel.

  • Nope, there are no cameras or lighting set at all in the scene

Try the default camera and turn off the headlight.... Parameter Tab > Default Camera > Headlight > Off

  • OK, I knew it was going to be something simple. Thanks for that, solved it nicely

You don't need to use a camera, there is a global switch for the Headlamp in Render Settings>Editor tab.
