Hello,
I am looking for a solution to create custom characters from scratch so I own the legeal rights to them. However I am looking for a way to modify them with sliders so I can make infinite unique characters easily compared to make each one individually.
Any advice on the best way to approach this would be so appreciated.
thank you

To be clear, are you wanting to ceate a new figure from scratch or a custom morph for an existing figure?
Either or I am trying to gain info on what the best workflow would be to create custom characters while holding legal ownership to those characters.
My assumption is you can't use the base figure gemeotry that ships with daz to create your own character and hold ownership of said character.
I am guessing you have to create something from scratch geometry wise for that?
Well you would have rights to your own 'morphs' ... however there a lot of morphs and it's quite possible that other people will also come up with similar looking characters.
To have a mesh that you 'own' - yes you would need to make it from scratch. Some start with a sphere, others with a cube. Here's one from a cube using Blender:
In the store there are some tutorials for rigging original figures, about rigging, morphing, etc. Figures require rigging which includes adjustments to weight maps; and also Joint Control Morphs and partial Joint Control Morphs. Some tutorials are sold in the Daz3D store; others are available for free at DeviantArt and/or YouTube.
It's a lot faster to make a character using an existing figure. About all the legalize for owndership of a particular character you want to create and own, it would probably be best to consult with a lawyer in your area. [I'm thinking like if you're talking about a character like "SpiderMan" ... I think that involves Trademarks, etc. and therefore lawyers]
