My usual thing is to create a powerful light source and add explosion effects in post.
I picked these up out of curiosity and wondered what everyone's experience was with this line of products.
I've encountered a few challenges- probably related to the new volumetric system.
1. Settting up the explosions/props is a thing because some parts remain invisible until rendering
2. It never looks like the promo and looks more like plumes/clouds of smoke.
3. I wish it came with Materials presets to truly control the smoke effect.
Anyone experiment enough to get the results to look more like the promos?

They are not VDBs, although some of them may have been updated to include VDBs (which cannot, in Iray, yet be emissive). Make sure that your Environment mode includes Scene lights.
Try putting them in a dark room and use the C smoke.
I'll try that. I just saw this post.

- Well spotted BeeMKay- that helped.
I will be uisng these, but still doing postwork after.
It's still weird to be using Volumetric for static props. Maybe it's just bad timing that the VDBs came out at the same time.
