How do I get Smart Content to list all .hdr file images?

How do I get Smart Content to list all .hdr file images?

I usually go into render settings and there are a few of them there but nowhere near a complete list.

Is there a search I can do in the files tab of smart content, or do I have to search for these files one by one in the content library tab?

They are hdr files you would think searching for .hdr would bring them all up but no dice.

I keep buying more of them and they seem to hide themselves from my purview.

Because the files that load them are dufs.
    -----
the hdrs are called by the duf files from the runtime library...
the pictures you in see in the library aren't labeled hdr
    ---
my work around was I have many items installed to separate folders and then add them to the content library using the manager and add them as directorys. (like the my daz library is at the top of the list)
    ---
In my case all my iray stuff shaders skys etc are installed in a folder called iray so adding that folder makes it a directory
    ---
but the skyimages you see are the duff files.

yes, separate folders is not standard but if you approach them as hard wired catalogs.
Even if dim dies or content catalog gets lost.... it's all right there in the folder structure.

okay the iray folder is one of the largest.. but you see what I sort the dufs into folders at the top level? They still call what they need from the runtime.
And no matter how much I like a PA I don't want to search through folders with your name or your sales name I want to look in folders called wood, stone, cloth.. etc.

Hello Alan, I sorta, kinda, maybe understand half of what you are saying.

Last night I kept running into duf files and png thumbnails and I was on the verge of concluding that the hdr files were somehow wrapped within the duf files.

Do they actually live within the duf files or do the duf files point to them in some other location?

Most of my project duf files do not save images within them but they point to those images elsewhere.

I just wonder why when searching either my smart content files within the daz smart content tab or within the content library that these .hdr or exr files do not show up?

When a simple search from the Windows explorer reveals a lot of them.

But then they have to be manually located and imported. It takes hours for the Windows folders to populate thumbnails even when the .hdr's. are stored on a very fast M.2 drive.

It would be nice if the smart content could gather them all into one place with small thumbnails to help identify them.

Windows cannot view .hdr files without a third-party program for thumbnail previews installed.

and I found out that .exr filles are an Adobe format so, they open in Photoshop which takes a while to load one by one.

And I could not find a .exr app that would allow thumbnail previewing in Windows explorer.

I did copy all of my .hdr and .exr files to another folder and then batch converted them to .jpg but there is a lot of cross referencing. Simply maddening.

And in Daz when you right click and go to the folder where the preview is located you find only a png preview file.

This could not be any more difficult to navigate if it was intentionally made hard on purpose. laugh

The presets point to the HDR files, probably in /Runtime/Textues/.
