Exporting from Studio for ID Map baking?

Can someone tell me if it's possible to combine multiple surfaces of an object into a single one using the Geometry Editor (which I know how to do) and then export it in a way that external programs like Substance Painter can bake a proper ID Map (so you can use that to select areas for painting rather than having multiple surfaces)?
I can export it out of Studio as an FBX with one surface, but no matter what options I choose when importing, it always creates an ID Map with a single color. I understand why it's doing that, but I don't know if there's something that can be done before exporting from Studio to define those different IDs.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you, I have that but I don't like exporting both high and low poly objects when I don't need them, nor for them to be triangluated. Not entirely sure why I would need to do either if I don't need to bake high-res details or unless Painter can't handle the resolution of the mesh. Do you happen to know the manual way to get ID maps out like I described? Thanks again.
Does the merging of surfaces with the Geometry Editor always work for you?
On many models I can't get to make it work correctly, sometimes the merging works and sometimes just doesn't with textures that don't remain correctly assigned as they were before the merging.
Yes, but I imagine it could give you trouble if you try to merge surfaces that have overlapping UVs or tiling textures. A lot of products from DAZ use tiling textures and they can give really unpredictable results if you mess with their UVs or try to make them non-tiling.
I just use the + buttons in the Geometry Editor to select a surface, then right click on the one I want to merge it with and combine it that way, then right-click on the now-empty surface and delete it.
