Achieving blonde rather than ash on some hairs

Hello -
I have noticed that with some hair sets such as OOT and AprilYSH, despite their obviously high quality, I can never seem to get the blonde Iray textures to render as truly blonde. They're always much closer to ash or gray. Lighting and adjusting the base color does not help. Does anyone have any suggestions for achieving a truly radiant "Scandivavian" or "California" blonde as opposed to flat ash?
Thank you!

I would choose the white hair options in that case if available.
Computer monitors shift colour tones and brightness over time (like 2 months). If you are expecting predictable colour results all the time you might want to calibrate your monitor.
I use this product - it works on most hair models, and has a ton of colour shades. https://www.daz3d.com/colorwerks-hair-shaders-for-iray
OR
For ash coloured hair, if you go to the surfaces tab, and select ALL the surfaces of the hair - you'll see a BASE COLOR slider. If you change the base colour (which is often white) to light light light golden yellow, you'll get California blond hair. I put photos of famous blonds on my desktop then match the hair color to the photograph - so I have Marilyn Monroe blond, Brigitte Bardot blond, Pamela Anderson blond, etc.
EDIT: you are right. I tried to change the colour of OOT Cathy Hair by changing the base colour and it did nothing.
^Is the base colour being overridden by the glossiness or translucency colour (or is it the SSS colour? I forget).
Here's an OOT hair with the Solid Colors 042 from this set applied:

Not perfect but the best I've come across so far.
I don't like April's blonds either (or her blacks, for that matter).
1 - You can try and mix some yellow or sand in the various channels: Base Color, Translucency Color, and sometimes Glossy Color and Top Coat Color are usually the relevant channels.
2 - Just use a hair shader. This one is quite popular: https://www.daz3d.com/colorwerks-extreme-hair-texture-blending-for-iray-and-dforce-hair
3 - The materials of some hairs can be saved as shaders and then applied to other hairs. I quite like the blonds of Adrian Hair. Here's how to save materials as shaders: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/476961/changing-base-color-for-hair
Good luck!
Here's a shader I threw together quickly, don't know if this is closer to what you're looking for.
Shader should give similar results for all of AprilYSH's polygonal hairs. Apply her blond first, then the shader.
Could also try reducing translucency or increasing gloss, I guess? Not by much, but the idea is to see less of the shadows behind the strands, and more of the light that hits them
