Installed path for DAZ Studio not defined ?

I wanted to give DAZ Studio 4.8 a try, but this error is preventing me from installing it:

Install Manager cannot find a required path. The package for "DAZ Studio 4.8 (Win 32-bit)" requires that the installed path for "DAZ Studio 4.5 (32-bit)" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.

I have added a path in the Applications page but to no avail. The folder definitely exists.

I deleted the "package" and it was downloaded again, but the same error came up.

The machine has never had DAZ Studio installed on it before.

Hope someone can help.

OK, two issues. The first is may be killer for you.

Iray is 64-bit only; Nvidia does not provide a 32-bit version

As to the path - DIM wants a 32-bit install directory defined; it will then install Studio to <32-bit-path>\DAZ 3D\Studio4

And if you go on to install the 64-bit version, please note that the 64-bit path MUST be different from the 32-bit path, as DIM will install Studio to <64-bit-path>\DAZ 3D\Studio4

    Thanks for replying.

I've set the path to C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio, and also to C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/Studio4 but to no avail.

I've also noticed that the installer hasn't installed "PostgreSQL CMS" either, and generates a similar error.

The kicker is that there isn't a way to add a path for Postgre SQL in the Application page, so I don't see a way to follow the error instructions.

Can I bypass this installer and just run the MSI installers directly ?

OK - you may be setting things in the wrong location.

Click the gear icon in DIM and select the installation tab.

Define your path for 32-bit software (default is c:\Program Files on 32-bit systems, c:\Program Files (X86) on 64-bit systems); this is where DIM will install Postgres and Studio. DIM will automatically create the DAZ 3D\PostgreSQL CMS and DAZ 3D\Studio4 directories - don't try to define them in the path.

Then go into the application tab and delete your Postgres and Studio directories.

Click 'accept' on the setup screen and then try the install again.

FWIW, I have my 32-bit path defined as "D:\bits-32" and the 64-bit path as "D:\bits-64" and DIM populated the application path on instal.

Thanks for the tip, that seems to have worked.

The error message is a bit misleading in what it wants you to do.

    Thanks for your help.

  • I got the same error message, simply because it wasn't defined. Though it seems that it may give you the error if you simply have the manager in something other than C: Program Files.
