Getting A New Computer, Need Mind Jogging

I'm getting a new computer and, although I've been using DAZ Studio for what seems like forever, it's been a while since I've installed it on a new computer. Is it best to download and install it through DIM? I want to do this the right way.

  • should be fine... the only thing to remember is that any time you update it with dim it tosses the installer for the previous version.
Workarounds are to always make a copy of the installer file when you get one and two.. just copy the daz folder to another drive and then install
the old version will still run from the old location ... this is handy if your computer decides it doesn't like the new daz.

Yes, install with DIM, but before you install anything, be sure to configure all the paths in DIM so things get installed where you want them.

Yes, I do know that part, but I just get a little squirmy when I think of the task of setting up a new computer. It sort of boggles my mind.

For me, just re-installing DAZ is a beast. It takes the longest out of all the software I re-install. I do this every 1-2 years (full reboot to clean it out). I'm hoping to use my saved "snapshots" on Windows the next time.
