Have you tried ctrl+L? That sometimes works for me.

thank you. when the creator of this prop set saved these scenes they must have turned off the light!?

still when rendered in 3delight the render this dark, when rendered in multi-pass openGl the render is also dark, only in iray is the render not dark!?

    see dark render above.

at least the viewport light is now on.

    solved

    auto headlamp

  • Ctrl L (Window>Preview Lights) turns off the previewing of scene lights, using a pseudo headlamp instead. Enasbling the headlamp in renders is not generally going to give good results, though it looks as if the Iray version is just using the default HDRI environment map - 3Delight can do soemthing similar using Uber Environment.

Spoke too soon the creator of this asset has some weird setting, the 3dlight still renders dark, and has auto headlight set to never, but when switched to the only other setting ‘when no scene lights’ it still renders dark.

Don't go buying the old version, Studio comes with UberEnvironment 2. Look for it in /Light Presets/omnifreaker/UberEnvironment2.

no the 4.93 was for the sc20 outpost.

You need an Uber Environment 2 light node in the scene and selected to apply presets.

found a light switch, it's off by default.

here is a render[3dlight]. with the 'lights' in the scene turned on.

and this is the day scene not the night scene.

    iray is all good.

the creator did turn off the viewport light also [ctrl+L]

There is nothing weird going on with the scene - It is an Iray scene and if you want to render it in 3Dlight, you must make changes to lighting and some surfaces do not translate well with the automated system when rendering.

The CTRL+L turns on/off preview of the scene lights, by default it is on (can't be changed by PA), but when previewing the scene lights, it doesn't recognize for example mesh lights as a light source and if there are no such lights that the preview does recognize, the preview stays dark or completely black.
When preview of the scene lights is turned off, the scene is lighted with a general light that has no relation to what lights there are in the scene.
