Sad news, but he had a pretty good innings.

Yes, sad news, although he lived to a good old age. One of the first images I ever posted (over 9 years ago) was this Avengers spoof, entitled "Steed, there's something a bit different about you today!"

    ...bugger.

He had so much class in that show.

Loved the the contrast of styles between him and Mrs Peel even down the to cars they each drove.

Ah, that theme tune was a sound of my childhood. Back when the future was fab.

Of course for a young male viewer Steed was a fine anchor, but...

So sad to hear yet another famous name from my childhood has passed away this year, I loved watching "The Avengers". However 93 was a good age to reach.

    Fond memories. R.I.P

It's sad to hear he's gone, although he did have a good innings at 93.

He did other things but I always remember him for The Avengers. John Steed was the perfect agent and the perfect gentleman.

I did see some of episodes with Honor Blackman but I always thought the ones with Diana Rigg as Mrs Peel were the best. They came up with the craziest plots but you just had to go along with it because it was so much fun.

..OK, I'm 14 years old again.

    "ABC" Associated British Corporation.

    I still remember the B & W episodes

..yeah, at 14 years old ,she was hot.

...and Diana Rigg was knighted in 1994 to become Dame Dianna Rigg (the female equivalent of "Sir").

...and yes those cat suits were...well...

Did you know that her name came from "Man Appeal" = "M Appeal" = Emma Peel!

This is sad news. Once again, there is a very good obituary in today's edition of The Times.

    Oh, dear.

This has not been a good week.

Time to dust off M4... http://www.sharecg.com/v/57511/

Whenever I hear Janis Joplin sing "Bobby Magee" (or anybody else do a cover of it) I always substitute "Patrick Macnee" for the title character's name in my mind's ear.

Never really had any reason to tell anybody that, but hopefully now at least one other person will do the same thing.

Bye-bye, Mr. Macnee, and thanks for all the fun!

Isn't there an Avengers remake film hitting theaters soon?

If there is, I hope it's better than the last one!
