Point light question

How do you make the star burst that represents a point light go away from the viewport? I am following a tutorial where the author changes the point light to a disk light and all that remains in his video is the disk. The star burst went away. It remains in both my texture shaded and iRay modes. I can't figure out how to make it be invisible. Please help.

I’ve created a scene with a 1 meter cube whose surface I have given a red color.  I’ve added one point light and place it directly above the top of the cube.  I’ve increased its luminous flux value to 75,000 lumens.  No other objects or lights are in the scene.  In the first image in the attached file, you can see the emitted light that the point light projects onto the top of the cube.  When rendered (I used Iray.), the point light itself is not rendered but its emitted light is rendered.  See the second image.

One can interpret “invisible” for the light in more than one way in Daz Studio.

    • If you turn the point light off in the viewport (clicking on the eyeball to the left of the light in the scene tab or changing Visible from On to Off in the Display setting of the Lights tab), the point light and its emitted light are both turned off.  You cannot see the point light or its emitted light in the viewport but the point light is still available in the scene if you wish to turn it back on.  See the third image.  When rendered, neither the point light nor its emitted light are rendered.  See the fourth image (solid black).

    • If, instead, in the Display setting of the Light tab you change the Visible in Viewport setting from On to Off, the point light is no longer displayed in the viewport but its emitted light is still displayed.  See the fifth image.  When rendered, the point light itself is not rendered but its emitted light is rendered.  See the sixth image.

Glad to be of assistance.  It does take a village to raise each of us.
