how do you stop dforce clothing from poking through itself?

So I want to add a shirt to the floor in a messy apartment so I just use dforce to drop it onto a plane but I find when its finished and is draped down I see its sometimes merged through itself and poking through. Is there a way to cancel this so it only can move off itself rather than through itself?

Usually items has self collission checked, but you cam check that.
But even with self collission it can poke through. The problem is usually that the solver don't have enough time (steps) to avoid the pokethrough.
You can try to increase subframes or iterations or both. I would assume they should result in the same.
You can also try to reduce gravity, so the clothing falls slower, and the solver get more time when it hit the floor.
