I'm just starting to come back to my 3D art and I'm back to my same problem, I'm terrible with lighting!
I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on proper lighting on my renders?

An added not is that I have been using luxrender usually and I would edit the light seetings while it renders to make the model's skin and hair brighter, any advice on how to do this in the new IRAY?

These screen shots are not mine and I dont rememver which Iray thread I got them from. But just like Luxrender you can adjust those settings while you render.

There is also an aux window (not sure if that is the name of it or not) that lets you see your scene live rendering in Iray as you tweak the scene and lights. That way you can make full scene edits with out stopping to do a big render then stop and edit then render again. Best to keep that window small though to keep the resource demand low.

Actually if you adjust them it simply restarts the render (at least it does for me). I think someone said this was a known issue, so hopefully it will be fixed and those settings will be adjustable during render.

I have just tried this in DS4.8.0.59 and the Tone Mapping at least can be adjusted while it is rendering. It takes a couple of seconds to update on my machine, but I am using CPU only for rendering in Iray. The render continues as normal. Are you using 4.8.0.59 as well?

No I am still on the previous version, 4.8.0.55, I will try again after I update.
