You Cannot Discount What You've Already Paid For. What?

Over the weekend, I dismissed the following as an absurdity worthy of a Monty Python skit.

(promotion or code) "Cannot be used to discount items already owned."

Seems the store is serious though since it appears after every sales promotion.

What are they talking about?  I mean I'm not sure buying something twice is even possible!  It would have a red "purchased" box and a download link, "You already own this item."

So what does the "cannot be used" lingo mean eactly?

In the good old days, Daz interpreted the 30 day return policy to also mean that if an item was offered at a lower price within that 30 days, you could get a refund of the difference. Not now.

I really miss those days. It isn't much fun shopping here anymore.

Thanks.  Glad that was cleared up.  EULA topic is pushng 10 pages?  Paranoid and peeking through the curtains.  Had worried they might limit downloads or timestamp them.  "The digital rights to the product you bought in 2018 expired in 2019.  Help support DAZ by renewing your rights to this terffic legacy product..."

Not fun shopping but at least returns seem quick.  Didn't know about lower price within 30 days.  Just as well I guess.

    PS: @Barbult

Off topic but since question has been answered.  Great renders for a new 'vintage vending machines' product.  You're an inspiration -- snagged the laundromat too!  : )

    Ah the good ol' days!

This is the policy I was quoted back in March: https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4434959725581-What-is-the-Policy-For-Sales-Events-and-Prices-

Missed it by two weeks.  wink

  • I miss the old Daz logo so I made it the background pattern on my Daz computer.

I always interpreted this to mean you can't request the discount on items already owned.  On a side note, I've found it is possible to place items you've already purchased in your cart, but it takes a very specific circumstance involving purchasing licenses.

All you need to do is click the red "Purchased" button, if you have a reason to want to cart an item you've already purchased (for example, curiosity about its current price after applied discounts).

For the few I was after, I found simply putting a check mark to the license box, page refreshed showing a purchase license button.

Same thing happened for me, but on some products the "add license" button would revert to the "purchased" button, sometimes as I was clicking on it to get the license.  That ended up adding the item to my cart along with the license.
