Genesis and the A3 Bunny Ears

I thought I would start the progress of shifting my characters to genesis, since I bought the shape packs and have every old gen 3 texture converted over to gen 4, and genesis (1) can use the gen 4 maps. Anyhow, I was quite encouraged by the results and even thought about changing him over to the policeman for genesis until I discovered that the a3 ears no longer have the easy pose. I try to spin the dials and nothing happens. It's just a prop on his head, there isnt any ear joints or anything. I tried parenting it, the whole 9 yards. it just isnt there. Dont get me wrong, they look fantastic without any extra work but they just won't bend or twist, see the attached snapshot. Each ear should have about 8 extra joints to allow for complete bending and movement

Parent them to the head, Auto-Fit replaces its original bones with new ones that matches those in Genesis.

    Try this:

Load Genesis and autofit Bunny Ears.
Load original Bunny Ears from the content Library again, do not autofit this one but select it and go to Edit - Figure - Rigging - Convert Figure to Weightmapping.
Now go to Edit - Figure - Transfer Utility and select source: the original Bunny Ears, Target: those autofitted to Genesis
Leave everything as it is, only uncheck *fit to source*, hit accept. This will transfer the original rigging back to the autofitted Bunny Ears but might offset the Ears from Genesis. To fix that open scene pane, hit ctrl and select Genesis first and then the autofitted Bunny Ears, then go to Edit - Figure - Rigging - Transfer Rigging (Figure Shape), that will move the Ears back into proper position on Genesis head. If all has worked out as intended you should be able to pose the Ears now.

that seems to work pretty well, it moves well and stuff once I pulled everything down and locked it in place. Seems a little awkard tho.

After trying twice I still cannot easy pose, nor do they bend as easy as they used to. I even tried to overlap the source and the autofit in the hopes that the weightmapping would work well but it doesnt.

I dont think Genesis Alex is amused by his crinkled ear. :P

You will get the separate bones back but the Easy pose thingie connects all those bones and you can pose them at once, that's not converted over with this method. You would need to pose each bone separately. Maybe adding smoothing modifier would soften the edges a bit? I know you can connect these bones in DAZ Studio again and make a pose control but I don't know how that works.

Found a tut by Sickle yield where she describes a different way to convert and obtain bones. Maybe this one will do the trick:

I think I'll just stick to the parenting for now. that was bone 6 that I bent, along with bone 5, the other bones warped the mesh too badly.

The main reason I wanted Alex and the others in the genesis characters was for the shapes and stuff. I was planing on getting a few things extra to make it where I could make any style of toon character at all like the genesis evolution morph package http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-evolution-morph-bundle (or another with that packaged inside come to think of it) but ran out of money when it was on sale and the sale ended too soon for the next time I get money :P Besides that I'm not sure how to transfer all the awesome morphs over to the newer genesis characters.
