script to install a character.

As best I can understand ...  g8 is slow to load because it is more complex than earlier ones
And when I load any g8 character it has to load the morphs for any g8 characters etc to populate the shaping panel which takes more time.
Okay, looking for ways around that.
I'm going to uninstall about 80% of g8 characters...  but then I won't see them in my content library.
what I envision is an image of each of my characters and a script that installs it as Dim does.
click on the image and it calls the script which would install the contents of the package.
Thus making that character now active with it's morphs etc but enabling the ability to see the character in the folder will all my other g8s but not actually having that character installed unless I need it.
---
I would picture the script calling the package and then installing it in a directory say of "special loads".
(this may be part of the theory behind only downloading what you need when you need it ... but I want to use my bandwidth for any product only once.
And I prefer to have all my products on my computer giving the work off line option. And considering I have 3 or 4 terabytes of models and a 100g a month limit.. I have to have it all here and backed
---
basically the script would run a very dumb "dim" that does nothing but install a specifed package to a specific location?
---
the script would be generic and take it's target from the name of the picture
--
the attached images are of my dummy texture folder. Basically signs etc where I manually place the texture on the object.
what I have is an image in daz that I can see where a texture is --- and then browse to the folder location and grab the texture there.
---
the third image is my g8 female library panel.. and it would look the same but clicking the image would install the character instead of loading it...
which should theoretically speed things in loading because only the morphs I was using would be active?

  • If you use Connect you can simply install the characters within DS by right-click on their thumbnail

The issue isn't the complexity of the figure, or even the number of properties - it's setting up all the links between them, so that the correct things happen when you apply a morph or pose.

where are the thumbnails.. the goal is to still have all my g8 females etc  in the same content library folder so I can see them all  .. the goal is to only have active characters active and the rest in abeyance.
And will connect work in offline mode?
the sample images for Central .. seem to show items by order date
does it sort or offer the option of viewing the items by the same catagories as the content library.
    And finally big question here...
Is there some way to leave all the installs done and in place and just turn access to the files on and off?
So that essentially the image in the content library would trigger a script that tells daz whether or not it can see that item and load it?

That is exactly what does the turbo loader by Riversoft Art. Its keeps all the installation (and the user facing files), but "hides" the unwanted morphs by renaming them. Actually, DS loads morphs based on the file extension. Everything under data>daz3D>genesis 8>Female that has an extension of .dsf is considered has a G8F morph. Turbo loader allows to rename them interatively .dsf->.dsfHIDDEN (or whatever). It is sufficient to rename them back to dsf to allow the morph loading. You should have a look at this tool. https://www.daz3d.com/turbo-loader-for-genesis-8-and-81

  • got the entire set.. but the turboloader tool box the extra one seems to be the cat's meow (at least if it's a cat with morphs?)
