Viewport iray Prieview window

Does anybody have any great tips for iray preview mode, as in best settings for performance regarding speed or refreshing when scenes start to slow down in this area please?

Are there deeper settings than the ones in preferences and the render settings pane?  Any 'secrets' or tricks that work to help in this area?

Could anybody tell me how this works, like proper laymans or even full on beginner terms in the technicality of this?

Ive used Daz to compliment my Art for years, but only 'got serious' about the finer points and intricacies since April last year, came a long way but still feel a bit overwhelmed!!!...

The Draw Settings pane has some additional settings. I have no recommendations about what the best values are. It probably depends on your system and scene. I don't even know how most of those settings affect performance.

Yes thank you, I'm watching some of the pro series videos and you pick up some great little things that might help here and there, the biggest one I hadn't yet noitce, that 8.1 figures are set to subD2 for viewport as standard now, so reverting to subD1 for viewport I'd imagine will help...
