Why does loading ANYTHING take so LONG!

I had to stop using Daz "Alpha" a few months back and move over to the beta because Daz Studio took so long to load ANYTHING, (even a relatively simple scene like 1 gen 8 char plus 3 lights etc) and it would take HOURS to lad up.  So. I started using the beta build and load times were reasonable (for Daz) again.

Recently I did some database organization and cleaning and now BOTH versions of Daz are suffering the never-ending load problem.

I have tried uninstalling both and completely reinstalling them again but the issue persists.

Any help is very much appreciated.

You can try looking in your log Help > Troubleshooting > View Log File.

There you can see the activities with timestamps. Especially warnings and errors can be time consumming.

If it take hours to load a scene with a G8 character or the character by it self, you have conflicts between installed characters/morphs - Reinstalling DS doesn't help when the problem is with the installed products.

Is it long if you have a scene without any character?

Character loading can be very long. There are hundredss of threads on this topic. There are two main reasons: 1/ you have too much chars/morphs/expression packs installed. You can uninstall some assets. There are alo some assets can help to reduce the loading time by hiding some chars/morphs (search "turbo loader" in the store). 2/ as PertiA said, conflicts when a char is loaded. This can be solved by studying the log and trying to find the conflicting assets.

Based on my own experience and countless of threads here on the forums, a large number of characters/morphs doesn't cause hour-long loading times by itself. 15-20 minutes is possible, but if the loading takes longer, it is because of the conflicts between different characters/morphs installed for the base figure.
