Duck for the 24th and 1/2 Century

I think that should give an apt description what I'm looking for w/o stepping into anything that even remotely smells of infringement.

I got another itch to see if I might be able to whang together one of my favorite characters together from available Daz Resources. These are basically what I've found available that're remotely in the ballpark of workable:

https://www.daz3d.com/modern-duckie-for-genesis-8-male

https://www.daz3d.com/classic-toon-duckie-for-genesis-3-male

I'm kind of leaning towards the Gen3, but what I'm mostly wondering is the variety of the morphs & if there's even a fighting chance. Doesn't have to be exact; a cousin twice removed would be fine.

Perhaps something like this already exists elswhere?

Either one could work, depending on which compromises you're willing to make. The G3 duck is more toony, but has a more bird-like posture that you could maybe work out with posing, whereas the G8 duck stands erect but has a more realistic looking face. Depending on how much work you're willing to put into it, you could XTransfer the G3 duck and use Shape Splitter to get the head from one on the body of the other.

The G8 version is daffier, the G3 more donaldish...

Good to know.  I could definitely see Donald but not so much Daffy.

    Tease.

I export all assets out of Daz as it is so I pretty much convert to other formats. I'll check into it.

  • most of Syezza's stuff FBX exports out of Carrara into Unreal Engine rigged

getting it into DAZ studio is not as easy

Hey. I export out to FBX or OBJ as it is, so no need to bring into Daz. I've never had any luck Importing FBX into Daz either.

And Carrara Pro is a fraction of most of my plug-ins these days now. Seems a worthwhile investment.

Duck Dodgers is worth it certainly.  Now if I can get K-9 in the mix as well ...

Carrara also imports most FBX files unmangled and animated so there is that

as well as being quite a robust modeller (looking at you crashy Hexagon created by the same people)

Is there any way to get the Modern Duckie for Genesis 8 Male Fluff geoshells to work on a Genesis 8.1 figure? It works fine on face, arms, and legs but it doesn't cover the torso or back of the head so they look plain white.

Edit: If anyone else comes a-searching, I needed to convert the Body and Head sections of the surface on all five fluff geoshells to Iray using the Iray uber base, then copy the surfaces from the "Torso" surface of the geoshell applied to a Genesis 8 figure. Now the fluff works fine on the Genesis 8.1 figure. On my way to creating a Kenku!
