Alternate"my library" folder?

I'm about to install 4.8, and I'd like to make a new "my library" content folder for all the new iray and G3 stuff. I know that you can have multiple "runtime" folders and I have some of those for old poser files and V4 content, sorted by category. I would like to set up this new one in order to keep the new stuff separate from the Genesis and G2 content.

So....
1) is this possible?
2) if so, do I just need an empty directory with a file structure like: (G3 Content > My Library) and direct DIM to install there, or do I need to create empty subfolders for (Data, People, Shaders, Runtime, etc.) Will the installers create new folders as needed?

Thanks!

    Yes.

Assuming you want to install via DIM, click the gear icon at top-right to open preferences, go to the Installation tab, click the +, add your folder with the ... button and give it a name. Click Accept, then in the main window click Details on the Ready to Download/ready to install tab (whichever you use) and pick your new folder.

In DAZ Studio, open the Content Library pane, right-click DAZ Studio Formats, select Add New base directory, and select your folder.

    Install your G3 content.

    Thanks!

Does it matter which library I have chosen when I install the base 4.8 update?

By default updates will update to the location of the original content, the location is used only for content that isn't currently installed (never installed or installed and uninstalled).

4.8 does not seem to be finding stuff in the new "data" folder. Can you have multiple "data" folders?

In DS Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, add the new content location under BOTH "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats".

You know, the content generally separates itself. Alternatively, you can organize the content any way you want. As long as the root directory is properly mapped in Studion, you should be fine.
