Iray version of the 'public showers' scene?

So I purchased this years ago: https://www.daz3d.com/public-shower but its only meant for 3Delight. Any ways it could be converted to Iray do you think?

I just run the Iray Uber Base shader on the surfaces and then tweak the surfaces to my liking. Save it as a shader preset or a Scene Subset for later use.

Sorry this is alien to me. Any chance you could give me the quick "how to" please?

Select all surfaces and aplly Iray Uber Base.

Don't know how it is light, but you probably have to add new.

Then try to render and adjust as needed.

When you open up everything in the Scene Tab look for sky and delete it. The sky is a dome and wont let the Iray dome light through.

Since you posted this I have loaded mine up and am redoing the surfaces so that is how I know :) You also wont get light inside until you make the glass see through which it wont be after the conversion.

You can also use an Iray Section Plane so you can get HDRI light inside.

Well, not necessary it seems, you can hide the walls.

  • find the iray uber shader ... open the file location where it is.. there will be a duf and duf.png for it... copy those and then paste them in the highest level for when you need it handy.
I have an iray folder where I install all iray products and mount it as a directory and the shader is the first thing in the iray directory>
I started in 2007 or so...  I have many many things that need to be changed.
anythime i hit one... open in in surfaces and click on the iray uber and apply to all surfaces and done.

Right click it and add it to the Script menu and it is always there in the menu at the top and no need to open a folder.

No need to hide anything to get light into the building as there is enough windows in the roof and end walls to let in lots of light :)

This is just using the overhead lights.

Hmmm, how surprising: something else I own that I've never used.

Haha, yea.  Often the first time I use a product is when someone else ask questions about it.

great idea .. think I'll just add it to the menu bar...  while we complain about Daz not letting type be larger... if you have a large monitor you can put an awful lot of icons across that top bar.

This procedure is now second nature to me so I hardly have to think about it. Over the years I have accumulated a bunch of IRay shaders which I use to replace some of those that don't convert so well just by clicking the Uber Shader. Actually it is part of the fun (read: artistic endeavour) to be making the materials render more to my liking. I also do this with IRay materials that I feel could look better with a different shader or (and this started when I had a slower GPU) I swap out materials that are slow to render with shaders that tend to be much more IRay friendly.

In short, messing with materials and shaders is a huge part of my workflow.

I just applied Iray Uber to everything, opagued the windows, removed an end wall and added an HDRI light, to see how it looked without shader mods.  Also added a character to see how it would look in that setup.  And again using some other products I've never used before - wet hair and shower drops.

It's interesting that the metal actually looks like metal right out of the box, without modding the shaders.
