Hello, i bought a physcial copy of photoshop cs5 a billion years ago. Been happy with it for the most part. I am perhaps stuck in my ways and perfer not to do things online or via cloud. Such as when i work in daz, i do "work offline". So i don't have photoshop creative cloud or even an Adobe account ( i think), but i want to use the camera raw plug in. I see it says it comes with Ps, but i cannot find it. I can go to help--> about plug ins--> Camera raw, and it says i have version 6.0.0.205, but where? i see there are some updates available ( one of which is for raw 6.7)when i go to the help button in Ps. I tried updating but all of them failed and said error downloading please quit and try again later. Do i really need to create a cloud account to update my Ps i installed from a disk? Thanks for any help. Thought I would ask here first since this is where I perfer to go.

As far as I know, all updates are cascaded via the Creative Cloud Desktop (Adobe's downloader/installer app)
The latest version of Camera Raw is 14.5, but I imagine it's only CC subscribers that get that.
When you install Creative Cloud, they'll automatically cross-reference your purchase information/serial number to make sure they're not updating a pirate copy, and if all is good, available updates will (eventually) appear.
But that having been said, I'm not sure they update anything other than the latest versions - I have CC but I'm still using Windows 7, so my PS is stuck at the last one still compatible with Windows 7, but the Camera Raw is bang up to date - so it also depends on your operating system.
To cut a long story short, you're probably better off to be happy with what you already have, or be prepared to upgrade to subscription model... Adobe don't exactly bend over backwards for people that aren't throwing money at them.

Maybe this will help
Jabba---- thanks for the information. I don't know if i want to go subscribe when i have a physical copy. I will look into though. I just watched a video with colman Jackson and he was using Camera Raw and it looked interesting. I heard of it, but never looked into it. Might just keep using layers and masks and such. Thanks again for the time and help.
GuyGenesis ---- Thanks! believe it or not, I had found that video before posting yesterday. Unfortunately I can't find camera raw inside PS nor does an option for it show up with back clicking. Thank you as well for the help and time you put into researching.
Have a look at darktable
Camera Raw isn't built into CS5, but it is there - I still use CS5, but anything in Camera raw I have to open from the Bridge not inside PS (not sure if Mini-Bridge does it as well)
