This was the announcement thread: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/533376/daz-studio-4-16-meet-the-metamixer-toolkit/p1
ETA: And here's a thread where forum folks discussed it: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/533181/metamixer/p1
Best place to start with metamixer is here: https://www.daz3d.com/metamixer-toolkit It's the free toolkit for Daz+ members.
Also this youtube video is pretty great to show what it can do -![](http://img.youtube.com/vi/LZ2bIs-5AJg/0.jpg)
So this doesn't have anything to do with META the parent company of Facebook? Or if it does, what's the connection?
It has nothing to do with META (FaceBook/Instagram) but is a novel way to mix HD characters in an intutive way so you can have 75% Noa, 15% Torment, and 10% Merlin and see it interactively.
Meta as a prefix is ancient Greek (Metaphysics by Aristotle, for example.)
Is it possible to slow down YouTube videos?

It's okay. Nobody bother answering. I'm going to just skip METAMIXER because I don't understand the product. The discussion threads are just people confused and complaining. I don't want products that make DAZ Studio more complicated. I want products that make it simpler, faster and easier to use.
It isn't too complicated. MetaMixer is a widget that allows you to mix Hd characters/ core characters via a series of sliders. You want that 50/50 mixture of Victoria 8.1's face and Hailey 8.1 with a touch of Freja 8., you just adjust sliders in the widget to get the look you want rather than dancing back and forth the shaping tab as you add and subtract small percentages. So it is a widget that lets you adjust facial features.
Some HD characters were updated with Metamixwe widgets. I have assumed I don't need the metamixer version, where I have the updated HD (e.g. Michael 8). But is that right?
Yes, some of the HD figures come with their specific Metamixer widget so you don't need to buy twice.
I'm not entirely sure since I don't use this, but I think that only gives you the metamixer for the HD details, not for the character shape.
Nope, if you get an HD shape, Charles HD for example, and you get a metamixer widget, you will find that it is the Charles 8.1 widget. Remember that these are head shapes.
This is a forum, not a chat room - replies are not isntant (though there was a reply to your previous post immediately above this). Also bear in mind that people who do reply are offering you help on their own time, so please don't presume on that.
Mixing characters and HD morphs one can do with the normal dials, but the unique thing with Metamixer are the character add-on's, where the characters head has been divided into partial morphs - This would allow one to take a nose from one character, ears from another, brows from a third one etc... But, there's a catch...
Every character add-on adds tens of morphs to the base figure (68 morphs just for the Michael 8 add-on)
You are totally misconstruing what I meant. I don't know what culture you live in so I don't know what word triggered you. I said NOTHING about getting an instant response and I'm perfectly aware that this isn't a chat room and that others, like myself hundreds of times, have offered helpful advice on my own time . And I DIDN'T ask for further assistance from anyone. I simply stated I decided not to use METAMIXER because I don't understand it and the threads on the subject we're not helpful so nobody needed to provide further answers. It was not I that presumed anything.
Fauvist, I think Richard was misconstruing your comments that I've highighted in red.
The first sentence I highlighted might have sounded lke a complaint that nobody was replying, whereas I read it to mean: "OK, folks, don't bother to spend you time saying any more in this thread because I've decided to drop the subject".
The second might have sounded like you were saying that the forums in general only consist of confusion and complaining, whereas I think you were only referring to the Metamixer threads you had been pointed to - which do have quite a few confused people complaining that it is less than obvious how Metamixer works.
(I say this at the risk that I got it wrong too - I'm not trying to stir anything up here, so ignore me if I'm wrong)
Yes, my apologies - it sounded like a passive-aggressive complaint that no one was posting. I am sorry for misreading it.
MetaMixer has a PDF tutorial included.
I also made a video tutorial a while back to go with another MM related product (not yet released):
Another video but this is just a demonstration:
nicely done
