Did anyone else have issues with this? It's a freaking mess. Moryen's eyebrows for some reason are outside of the main folder causing a mess of the SmartContent tab...freaking me out at first since nothing was showing up, and wasn't until after I completely rebuilt the content database that I realized what the issue was.
And the Enchanted Wood environment always seems to crash my Daz.
DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "F:\DAZ 3D\Applications\64-bit\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\dzfilamentapi.dll" at 0033:000000009F4F0A13, std::vector<unsigned char,std::allocator<unsigned char> >::_Xlength()+1142647 byte(s)

The crash sounds like an issue with Filament - if you turn it off will the set work and render? It should be reproted to Daz, via a ticket, either way but it's best to try to figure out the specifics as far as possible.
Ah-ha! Yes, it does. If I switch to texture shaded, it loads just fine. Good God, freaking heavy though! I don't have a slouch of a system (i9-9900k, 64GB RAM, RTX 3070...) and rotating it is like trying to pick up a bus...
Can the eyebrow issue be fixed with an update, please? I'm just rebuilding my database and really don't want it messed up.
Edit: Thanks also for the info on the Enchanted Woods, I was on the verge of getting those as an extra, too. Will probably not do that now, although it is pretty.
Trying to sort out which one is causing the issue, loading each asset up one by one.
So far, seems to be limited to: Birch Seedling 04, Grass scatter, and Ground Ivy Scatters. Particularly a few of the instances in there don't seem to load properly in filament draw.
I assume it's the same reason Ultrascenery doesn't work in Filament
collapsed instances with proxies
I don't know what you're doing. I've loaded Moryen twice on a system less beefy than yours and have no issues with the eyebrows or anything else. How did you install?
Smart content screwups like with her eyebrows are on Daz, not the PAs, and have been occurring a fair bit recently.
Moryen is fine, other than the eyebrows being outside the smart content which should be an easy fix for the PA to fix.
It's the environment that was bundled in that causes Daz to crash, or be extremely heavy when in texture shaded mode. I think it does have to do with the Ultrascenery as WendyLuvzCatz noted. If I turn all those off, while in wireframe, it does show in filament just fine, and isn't as 'heavy' when rotating the scene. So, It hink for staging, best bet would be to hide everything but the absolute bare essentials, stage your model, swap to wire bounding or shaded bounding, turn everything back on, then render.
Maybe I am not looking at this right because I don't use Smart Content but mine appears to be in the correct place.
It's located under the wrong subfolder. Since it's not under 'Default', it causes Default to collapse, which is making people freak out thinking that their Smart Content is gone...
It's a metadata screw up. It's been happening occasionally with new products for a few months.
I checked where all those .duf files are on the disk and they all are in correct subfolders in the product main folder. Same for the Ajax outfit materials. It IS a metadata issue only. Smart Content is known to have glitches.
Metadata is created by Daz staff, not the PAs. On a Windows computer you can fix it yourself, but on a Mac, you can't. That drives me nuts. I really wish if they update Daz Studio they would make sure both versions are updated equally. And yes, there have been more errors of categories being outside of 'Default' or the next level down than ever before.
So the only way to get metadata fixed if you don't know how, or have a mess on your Mac, is to report it to Customer Service and hope the product is still within the product codes they are updating. The last time I reported something, I was told they weren't updating items older than SKU 50000.
What is the block on Macs? I wasn't aware there was a difference.
FYI, I fixed this just by copying the eyebrows to the normal Anatomy\External subfolder and deleting the one that's outside of Default, cleaned it back up.
The Forest looks like it's an issue with UltraScenery in general in filament view. Switching to texture view and hiding the plants and path in viewport makes it easier to manage, just need to remember to flick it back on to make sure a tree isn't growing out of someone's head. :)
You cannot really fix any Daz [slip] on metadata. User date cannot - per default- override Daz metadata. I have a Win10 and macOS environment available. No way, on both. And Daz have really messed up metadata for quite some of the recent products, e.g. Moyen has some items that are classified as "External" instead of "Default/Anatomy/External" for Moyen or Materials/Iray/** instead of Delault/Materials/Iray/** for Ajax outfit.
There is absolutely no way to fully override the daz default categorizations, independent of the OS. If you are not familiar with PosGres SQL, you are out. The only way is raisng a ticket and let Daz fix the issue. They have [slipped] up. they need to fix it.
It is possible to edit a Product's metadata in Daz Studio, though the Content Library pane will still show the store values (they are hidden, not deleted, otherwise there would be no way for the system to know not to restore them on getting an update).
Hi Richard,
I have been able to correct or add Metadata on my Win10 runtime without too much issue. But the products that end up outside of the normal 'Default' tree can be a challenge even on Win10 computers, but can be cleaned up. But on Macs, I will try every thing I have learned and nothing works.
I am attaching two screen shots of recent items that I fixed on Win 10, but can't on the Mac. One is not even installed, as I tried to keep it off this system, but it still has messed up my Smart Content without installation.
This is from the newly released D|S Pro Public Build 4.20.1.78.

Perhaps a permissions issue - though I am not sure why it would affect only vendor data. Can you export userdata (Content Library option menu>Content DB Maintenance) on the Mac?
Yes, that is part of my routine prior to closing a session with D|S, regardless of version.
I have also given full disk access to both DIM and Daz Studio in my privacy settings.
One more weirdness between Macs and Windows, when the new Beta updated I had recently loaded a number of scripts onto the top line drop down. On the Mac they were all wiped out, on the Window systems, they remained.
That also could be an issue with file access, since the UI session layout is written to AppData (win)/Application Support (Mac).
Thanks Richard. I will elevate this to Customer Support for assistance and return this thread to its discussion. I appreciate you identifying the probable issue. Mac can be weird.
Sure there is. The metadata is imported from a DSX file which contains human-readable text. Open (your library)/Runtime/Support/DAZ_3D_85317_Moryen_HD_for_Genesis_8_1_Female.dsx in your text editor of choice, search for "/Anatomy", add "/Default" before it, save the file, and reimport the metadata.
