A question about the Businesswoman Outfit by Pretty3D

Hello,

I have purchased the Businesswoman Outfit by Pretty3D and in the product description it says "Supports Iray and dForce: This product supports Daz Studio dForce Engine and Iray render engine." However when I try to run a dForce simulation I get an error message that I need to add a dForce modifier to the object I wish to simulate (I have the Business Suit top selected in the scene window). I have not really used dForce before so I am not sure what this message is telling me I have to do. Can anyone tell me why the simulation is not working and why I am getting the error message, or at least point me to somewhere I can find out?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

The only part of the outfit that is dForce is the skirt and it simulates.  The jacket does not have a dForce modifier..

PS: It is good form, when asking about an item, to provide a link to the item.

Thanks for the reply Sevrin and the tip about providing a link. I will make sure that I do so in any future inquiries.

Is there a way to make the top dForce compatible?

You can apply dForce to the top. But there is a risc that the top will misbehave, e.g. fall appart or explode when simulated.

It can be applied by selecting the top in the scene tab, and then in the scene menu (3 lines) Edit > Geometry > Add dForce modifier

I wouldn't try.  The jacket and shirt are one piece, and fit tightly to the figure.  It also comes with a lot of movement morphs that should cover most possibilities.

  • Everything above the waist in this outfit is modeled around the interaction between the bra, the shirt and the jacket in various degrees of less than complete coverage. I wouldn't bet on any of this working dForced. This is very much "adult roleplay as a businesswoman" type of "businesswear".

Correct, except there is no bra.

  • Wait, I forgot bra is in the Hot Work outfit from the same vendor which is also a "working" office suit.

Lots of clothing variety for office scenes.

Well, one of the reasons I was asking about dForce is that there seems to be some errant vertices that appear in the lapel area with some characters when you pose them, depending on the body morphs that are in use. I was wondering if using dForce on the poses/with the body morphs would fix this but it sounds like that isn't a workable idea. I wish that Daz Studio had a morph brush similar to what Poser has so that these things could be 'repaired' within Daz Studio. I guess the only way to fix this would be through the use of external modelling program.

You might try with increased smoothing iterations. In general if a clothing item has any errant polygons then it's even more prone to exploding with dForce.
