For a very long time I haven't liked a DO figure right off the bat, but Arianna is fire. Love the freckles, and love how easily she can portrait characters of different ethnicities. She kinda reminds me of the model Carmen Solomons.

She's cute. Daz's first meriney Core Figure. The skin looks a bit caked and crackly up close though. And the HD Add-On has a prominent nasolabial crease, which limits its usage for me.

Lovely and interesting. I like this character.

Can't say I'd ever heard the word, and I imagine some others might be wondering, so: "Meriny" (which seems to be the proper spelling) is apparently an archaic term meaning "light brown skin" or "mixed racial heritage". It seems to be known primarily via the 1937 novel "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston.

That makes more sense than anything I was able to find, but doesn't seem to apply to this character.

Lovely character.  Love her skin tone.

I just wish there was a side-by-side showing her face with and without the HD add-on, as all the promos appear to have been done with the HD add-on applied.  This is misleading.

Pretty character but not that different from some of Colm Jackson's characters. I like the whole bundle but there's no incentive to buy at launch except for the free poses. Will get it eventually when on deeper sale. Not into the "collect them all" marketing strategy, These are art assets not NFTs.

I'm a sucker for freckles but this one does nothing for me, for reasons I can't quite put my finger on. Don't love her morph, either. But I'm glad others like her!

I like the character from what I can see in the promos, great skin tone, but sadly again only texture eyebrows.
Also not sure if I like the makeup options, though the base skin looks good, comparable to some of the better core characters lately.

Thinking about getting just the character later, for now, maybe once I've seen some more renders.

There are a few good fibre eyebrow packs if you need those.

Thanks for the recommendation. I know, I have plenty. But I'd like to see core characters come with their own.
It adds value and looks better in closeups imho. And I think for new users especially, it would be nice to have fibermesh brows without getting them somewhere else.
At least this one has a "No Eyebrows" material preset, IIRC there were some characters without the option, which makes using other brow assets more difficult.

  • She is interesting but not breathtaking to me. I tend toward the male content. We'll see what is released next.

I have a real difficult time even looking at characters anymore. After buying so many, they all look the same. Mow they're all coming with freckles. Every once in awhile there is a real unique character, which grasps my attention.

The skin, to me, looks way older than the character is meant to appear - like she's around fortysomething. I'm usually all for older characters, but this incongruence between her skin and her morph/general appearance gives me a creepy feeling somehow. Like someone else masquerading as 'the fairy princess'. But that's just personal taste. She appears well done, apart from that. I've really enough princesses, fairies etc. by now though.

  • DO core characters usually have dramatically overdone skin settings when they are on their promo shots. Chances are skin on this figure looks less coarse.

Something in the render settings used for promos is causing the skin look this way every time a core character is advertized.

Yeah, I know this 'specialty' of the DAZ promos, have taken it into account already. Still. Then again, I'll just bet someone will post the loveliest, youngest-looking render of her in a few days and completetely prove me wrong. Cause I also said the Noa character looked uninteresting to me or something, and after the first few peeps' renders, I couldn't wait to get him ;-)

  • I do like the freckles but, nah, these bundles now are for the newer artists getting exposed to this, in my opinion.  Maybe a few of us old heads find these newer bundles interesting but I'm not in that category anymore.  Just like with the greek myth themed bundle previously, I only see a few things I may get later on but that's it.

"Meriney" is a word used by U.S. Southern black people to describe a black person with fair to pale skin and freckles. Technically, Arianna would be called "meriney red." Spelling on folk terms is debatable, but the spelling I use is the only one I remember seeing.

Oh, that one had a real deal of an anti-promotion. UV seams from spectral rendering and without looking at promos for the Demigod series you couldn't tell Noa can look interesting. Even there he was rendered as a generic blonde with blue eyes.  laugh

I think for those who have been here for a while and have a decent inventory, there is nothing new in the bundle. It's all goof stuff, but redundant... and overpriced compared to existing products just as good.

  • Ahhh.....nope not for this kid.

  • Hard pass until the price comes down. Way down. Not sure why the prices are so over the top for the DO figures.

As requested, here is a side-by-side rendered together in the same scene, same light. The figure on the right is HD. I have another 'regular' render cooking right now. Will post it when it is done.

Don't think I can show you anything that wasn't in th promo images.

No HD, Tasha's brows. If the last render finishes before bed I'll add it to the post.

    I like her well enough.

[Edit] Forgot to mention though, that when choosing the green eye option it makes the plica semilunaris (think, Tear Duct) white. Change the eye color to any other provided and it was reddish/skin colored as you would expect. I failed to correct the example below, but perhaps it was for the best.
