    Simple answer...you don't.

Rigging will not transfer, even on G3F, it's close but not quite there using Collada.

Textures are somewhat better...you can get them but not always.  FBX and Collada are pretty much the best bets for textures, but even obj can, with careful placement/loading of them.  Besides, unless you are loading the textures from the folders you want DS to use as the final folders, you are going to manually reload them, anyway.

How can I learn how to rig a figure from scratch?  are there any tutorials anywhere?

In this thread, there is a basic rigging tutorial.   It deals mainly with props that have moving parts, but the basics are the same...except more bones and then fiddling with the weight maps.

I do hope you posted that question as a joke, because if there was a version it would be illegal.

Not looking for an illegal version but wondering if daz made a version since they advertise it on their front page that content works in Maya and max. Guess one would need to use studio to import into those programs.

Not if your goal is to get a rigged figure into 3DS. Alembic saves a file specifying how each crtex on the figure moves, but that's all - it's just a moprhing lump of polygons, not a figure any more. FBX would probably be your best bet for going from DS to 3DS.
