3D printing license Q&A

For those with questions about the 3D print license, I've got a few answers.

1) Everyone should now have a license for any Daz Original you owned before the Eula change on July 12th.

2) You don't need to buy a 3D license for a product you owned before July 12th, however, if you bought it since then and you want a 3D license, you would need to purchase it.

3) At the end of September, the freebie Daz originals (ie. the ones you owned before July 12th) won't be free anymore, which shouldn't matter to you, as you already have them in your account.

4) Yes, we are likely to allow you to purchase Published Artist (PA) items to have this license, however, a date has not been set. No, you would not get these for free.

5) How can you verify that you have them in your account? Easy.  Just look for 3D print license in your product library, under the name of the product.

  • Not a question but a suggestion that maybe Daz should consider adding sort by License to the library

Thanks very much for taking the time to provide the info, I'm especially looking forward to seeing PA printing licenses in the plans.

  • A little over two weeks ago the 3d printing license was added to my products but only back to January 2019. Everything from December 2018 and older has not had the license added. I have been waiting to see if this would be updated, but after 2 weeks there has still been no change. I filed a help ticket with support but haven't heard anything back yet other than the automated response that my ticket was received.

When did you submit your ticket?

  • It was at the beginning of the week, but I did hear from customer support this afternoon. Apparently the mass license update did not finish running on my account for some reason and will have to be rerun / updated to add all of the missing DAZ original 3d print licenses. It didn't pick up any items from 2018 all the way back to 2007. DAZ users may want to spot check their accounts just to make sure that all of the licenses were added to their account before the free give away ends, just in case this happened to other users as well. Thanks.

So I have to search through the 60+ pages in my product library to find out if any were missed? "3D Print license" doesn't seem to be a valid filter.

I suggested that they add one for license

  • Is a 3d print license required for script-based addons, such as Thickener or the various instancing/scatter plugins, or only for the mesh objects they are used on?

You will need to submit a ticket to ask that one cause we aren't sure.

  • Today is the last day to add the 3d printing license for free to DAZ original items purchased before July 12, 2022. The mass batch program run by DAZ was supposed to add all of these items to accounts without any action required by users, but this was not completed on my account. I am still missing all the licenses for DAZ original products purchased from December 2018 back to 2007. I filed a ticket with the help desk weeks ago, and they are aware of the problem, but don't know why the process was not completed or when it will be completed.

With the annual Daz+ (platinum club) sale starting soon, I am concerned that some of the bundles for sale will contain items that I already own and that if I buy the bundles that it will change the purchase date for previously owned items to after July 12, causing these items to not receive the free 3d printing license whenever customer service gets around to running the batch program again on my account.
Has the issue of items previously purchased that are repurchased again in bundles after July 12 not receiving the 3d printing license added to accounts been fixed? Has the issue with the license for inactive items being added to accounts been fixed? Thanks.

You could run this script and add the items you are missing: (Note: the link is to the DAZ+ forum so nly members will beable to see it)

When Daz automaticaly added the licenses they included the repurchased and inactive the DOs. However, unfortunately, the above script will not add the repurchased or inactive ones.
