Hair presets not loading when indicated to apply on figure

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm having an issue with hair presets not loading, and this is happening to more than one product.

When a hair style comes with material presets or pose presets that say "Select Genesis ... to apply" for example, it doesn't work. If I select the hair, I get an error, and if I select Genesis 3 or Genesis 8, then nothing happens. I have seen this with Genesis 3 and Genesis 8, with Toyen's Old Hollywood Hair (which I refunded because it wasn't even fitting right) and now MRL Buzz Cut and Scar does the same with materials.

Does anyone know what might be happening or how to get around it ? I'm using Daz Studio 4.20.0.17

The presets are probably hierarchical if theya re intended to work with the figure selected - that does mean that you need to be usign the preset for the figure wearing the hair, rather than a different one.
