Ok, so I thought I would have a go at making some clothing for G8F in blender. . . Starting off with something simple like a button dress.
1. Knocked up something pretty quick in blender for testing and saved as .obj file
2. Imported into Daz, converted prop to figure, added SubD and smoothing modifier. . . . ok so far
3. Transfer utility from G8F to Button dress and fitted. . . still looking decent.
So, pretty decent results so far for a first time effort I'm thinking (Picture 1). . . and on the verge of deciding whether to go deeper, like making it fitting better, adding creases etc and sorting out materials etc... But before I do...
4. Tested out some basic poses. . . Hip bend, arms up/down/forward, legs sitting etc. . . all seems great and I'm almost impressed with myself.
5. Dialed in my own charcter morph to G8F (Picture 2). . . and WHOAH. . . whats happened to the Buttons... All mishapen and distorted. . . oh ohhh..
Now, I soon realised its because the character Morph also morphs the dress to fit. . . But I dont want the actual buttons to change. . . how do I keep the buttons their original shape??
Thanks

I have this video bookmarked:
A quick tutorial on how to set up a belt buckle to a rigid follow node in Daz Studio - minimise distortion with posing and morphs.
You can leave the buttons as part of the dress and use the Geometry Editor, in Vertex mode, to select each in turn and assign it to a Rigidity group, then select where it would attach to the dress and make that the reference group for that button. It will follow changes projected to that area but will not distort in the process.
Alternatively you can model one button and import it. Use the Geometry Editor to create a Rigid Folow Node on the dress for each button and aprent a copy of the button model to each follow node - again, that will follow chnages to the node area but rigidly so there is no distortion.
Mada has Youtube videos on both approaches.
Thank you both for the input. . .
I havent heard of rigid follower nodes before, so will definitely give both ways a try (after watching the videos), and see which way suits me best.
Thanks again. . . Much appreciated
