Help! Green Discoloration in render. (resolved)

Amy_BoneAmy_Bone Posts: 45

I'm experiencing a problem where I am getting inexplicable patches of green colour in some of my renders.

It is an occasional occurrence, but I have been unable to resolve or indentify the issue.  I have had to scrap several pieces of work, because of it.  Has anybody else come across this and is there a way around it?

In which application, using which render engine (if there's a choice) and settings? If DAZ Studio using 3Delight, are any of the lights in your scene set to Deep Shadow Map for the shadow type?

I am using 3Delight.  I am using SpeedLights Outdoor Light Set 1 which, on reflection do use deep shadow maps.  Is that the likely culprit?

Yes, that is presumably why a lot of work has been done on speeding ray-traced shadows in 3Delight.

Is there a fix or should I just give up on that product?

Flip the shadows to raytraced...go to each light and under Shadow, in the parameters and switch them over.  On the build of 3DL in Studio 4.8, I noticed about a 5% speed boost with raytraced shadows over DSM shadows...which basically means that the raytracing is now slightly to significantly faster than DSM.

Thanks for the advice I'll give it a whirl.  I'm having one of "those" days.  Four scenes built and none of the seems to want to render properly or as quickly as usual.

Thanks again mjc1016 that has resolved the issue.  It's dead easy too as only one of the lights has DSM active in each set.

Cool...some sets have many shadow lights. so I wasn't sure how tedious it would be.
