Geoshell issues

Hi all!

I have a few geoshell related issues that I'm hoping somebody can help me with.

One problem is that whenever I use a tool such as geometry editor or mesh grabber, all of the visxibility settings of my geoshells in my scene will revert back to everything being visible. Which is an absolute pain to correct each time... Is there a workaround to this? Or is this just a common problem that we have to deal with? I've tried locking all of the hidden properties of a geoshell, but this doesn't prevent them from reverting to visible again once certain tools have been used.

My next problem is that I have a lot of geoshells built up on one of my characters and the geoshells seem to be of a much lower polygon density than the mesh of my character. Mainly on the geografted areas of the character. (I am using plug in limbs from renderosity) I've attached an image to demonstrate.

Is there any way of fixing this?

Would be grateful of any help or advice :)

Thanks!

  • The first is a known issue. I've had a ticket open for it for some time now. The common workaround is to set the opacity for the material on those areas to 0%.

    Not sure about the second.

    Thanks for the reply :)

Ahh yes, why hadn't I thought of that! Thanks!

And I just now discovered the cause of the low poly geometry on the geografted parts' shells. It was caused by the shell node being set to the geografted limbs rather than set to the original model. I changed the node to the model and the shells are now high poly like the model is.

I just have to go through about 20 geoshells to fix them all  indecision Not fun... but I'm glad I found the issue regardless.

    Thanks again :)
