Imp-ex presets as custom actions? + Favorites in DS?

For years, I've been using Rob Whisenant's .obj import/export scripts in DS 2 & 3. I have them on my toolbar and use them all the time.

Seems like in DS3 and now in DS4.8, the obj export script doesn't work properly, although both import scripts are ok. This is almost a show-stopper for me in 4.8, as I really need them. Is there a way to create a custom action for .obj export, maybe by saving a preset in the dialog? I did make a preset, but after hunting all through my system, I still can't find where it's stored. I don't want to have to keep using DS2 just for this one function.

Next (almost show-stopper) - Favorite folders in DS 4.8 - This kills me. I'm always going to different folders, and the back/fwd arrows aren't much good, since they assume you've already been to a folder. When I first open DS, I still have to hunt through menus to find stuff. So I really need a Favorites option. Poseworks made a script which was great, but it doesn't work in DS 4. Is there anything else out there? (I can barely believe DAZ have never seen this as a priority feature!!)

TIA

mac

How is the scrupt failing? Is it plain text or encrypted?

I would think it would be possible to write a script to set the content pane to a chosen folder, but I'm not certain without looking (and my look time is limited).

It's failing because any exported object is too big. Re-importing them at Poser size, they're huge

It's plain text and this was the addy, but the link doesn't work

    Edit - New link = http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/artzone/wiki/user/rbtwhiz/technotes/daz_script/import_export/start

I've looked at the script, and I can't see anything obviously wrong, but I think maybe it's the way it calls the Export Manager that's changed.

I'm going to look through the wiki now and see if I can find Rob's script page.

Just checking further on the script.

If I export a Poser-sized obj, it imports fine at Poser size. But if I export a Max-sized obj, it re-imports at Max size. So it seems as though the script isn't applying the preset to change the size.

The majority of the samples I post now are [and have been for a while] located in the scripting section of the Documentation Center; see my signature for general links. Some of the specific samples you may be interested in are:

    Hi Rob,

Sorry! I only saw your post today.

Thanks a lot!! That's absolutely brilliant!!! Exactly what I needed. I'll set these up on my toolbar and remove the old ones.

Oh and by the way, a HUGE thanks you for adding a 'Show All' to the Surfaces pane in DS. It may sound ludicrous, but the one big reason I wouldn't use DS4 was having to click on items to see their materials. It made my life a misery when creating a product.

Heh. The Set Content script is great! I'm going to make a toolbar of all my favorite folders
