Creating a crowd

Forgive me if this has been asked before.
I want to create a crowd. By that I mean several generic, background characters. Like a bar scene with a dozen or so patrons. Or a city street with another dozen or so people on the side walks.
Is there a package or product with "generic" random people? I haven't found any.
Or will I have to create a bunch of characters, each individually?
Thank-you in advance

You'll want to search for "Billboards" in the store. These are effectively your "cardboard cutouts" which you position where needed, ensuring that they face the camera since they are 2D. That means they won't kill your graphics card when rendering the scene. You can obviously make them yourself if you have the time but the store has quite a few for a variety of themes/events/situations.
The main problem is the load of the graphic card that can be several Gb per character. Billboards are a solution, but the people have fixed clothing/poses that maybe do not correspond to what you want. Also to deal with all the possible angles, this kind of asset is extremely heavy (10Gb+).
Another solution is to use simplified low-poly characters. There is a couple of products that provide some.
Lorenzo & Loretta by Predatron: https://www.daz3d.com/lorenzo-lorez https://www.daz3d.com/loretta-lorez They are very old poser chars but they are fully posable and still very good to create a crowd. Predatron has also created a set of specialized chars (policeman, monk, etc) and animals https://www.daz3d.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=lorez
A set of item by Biala at renderosity. https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/bcs/crowd-figure-g8f-and-g8m-compatible/149065/
They are custom characters, but they accept flawlessly all G8 poses (but not expressions). They have some cloths, and can also use G8 clothings, but the result may have many pokes due to the low number of polys of the char. Their look and set of base cloths is very limited, but there is an incredible set of freebies by Marc Poser that largely extends their wardrobe, expressions, morphs, hair, ethnicity, etc. https://www.renderosity.com/users/marcPoser/freestuff?sort=newest&page=1
Also at rendo, there are some other products with low poly 3D chars, but they are unrigged and hence non posable, which makes tham as limited as bilboards.
