Curious DAZ 3DL rendering behavior

Greetings. There are scenes(mostly always outdoors) where the CPU usage during rendering will steadily drop from 100% down to something like 20ish%.
These renders will take abnormally long(like take nearly a day if not longer where usually they are completed in an hour or two at maximum).
Note that I am neither changing the lighting (3 area lights and a ue2 dome) or the rendering settings between the scenes yet some scenes will display such abnormal behaviour while others will perform just fine.
Can anyone please explain to me the cause of this phenomenon. Any tips/tricks will be very appreciated.

There is probably a "difficult bit" so after most of the render is done that iss till grinding away, and each bucket (if you are not proceeding progressively) can use only a single thread so the other threads will free up one-by-one leaving only a single thread/core working.
I would understand that but the percentage completed has also almost completely stalled. If the CPU was stuck doing a few tiles at the end while everything else gets completed I'd understand. But that isn't the case at all. The percentage completed is stuck at 76/77%.
