Need Some Assistance Rigging

I'm trying to rig a fishing rod I found, and it went pretty well, but I have a slight problem. The guides don't seem to be following the rest of the rod. Each guide is part of an individual surface group that is also part of the rod itself, so shouldn't the guides follow the rod? And it's all a single OBJ file, so it's not like I have multiple different objects that I'm trying to assign to the same bone. Does anyone have an idea of what I may have done wrong? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Presumably the rod is weighted and not the guides, assuming you use weight-mapped rigging. Surface groups may help with seelction, and polygon groups with both seelction and as guides when placing bones, but they don't automatically take influence from the bones. Unfortuntaely there really isn't enough information to see what you have done so it is not possible to be more precise.
