I am using Studio4.0.

After loading them on to M4 I can't find the morphs that change their shape. Where should they be?

Try looking at the Parameters pane - Window>Panes(Tabs>Parameters.

    You are right!

I had been expecting them to appear with an entry like 'morphs' or something like that in the left hand parameter pane. So when there was no entry like that I assumed they weren't there. But when I happened to click on 'All' at the top they appeared.

    Thanks.

    Another question now.

I can't get them to attach to a genesis character (M5).

After using the technique of changing weight mapping and the transfer utility they float a short distance away from genesis' hands/fingers even though they have been fitted to genesis.

I haven't found a specific genesis equivalent to the M4 package.

If you just convert to weight-mapping and use the Transfer utility it will take their position relative to the base Genesis, not to the M4 shape - then when you dial up M5 it will push them out to match the new shape with the same offset. You need to set the source to the Michael 4 Shape and then in the More options section of the Transfer Utility tell DS to reverse the source shape from the item when rigging it.

    Thanks for that advice.

Oddly, it worked with the superlong nails but not with the long ones which still floated just out from the hand (and I did try the technique twice just in case I had botched the first time).

Unfortunately. An artifact gets created with the thumb nail of the superlong nails, which you can see with the attached image. I don't know if this is a bug in the transfer utility or not.

Mostlikely the nail is so long that the end falls outside the projection range and gets no weights - use the Polygon Group editor to select the static faces, then use the Weight painting tool and for each map of the end thumb joint use the Fill command to set their weights to 1.
