Gamma Correction washing out darks

So I've noticed when I put GC on, the 'black eyeliner' and 'dark eyebrows' tend to wash out.

What can I do to avoid this?

    So i figured it out.

On my specular maps, I had to go into the 'image editor' and set gamma to 1.0 for them ( and the bumps ) and now everything looks good~!

( image editor is found by clicking on the image thumbnail in the surfaces tab and selecting 'image editor' next to 'layered image editor' )

Yes, not all control maps are 'correct'.  Some are fine and will be the correct gamma but others, will rely on what the map says it is, not what it looks like it is.  If the map is a jpg and its 'mode' is RGB (any kind of RGB) AND it is really a black/white image used as a control map, chances are it won't load correctly.  The RGB 'mode' overrides any automatic settings for all but a few maps.  Now if the mode is greyscale, chances are they will correctly load.

mjc - thanks for that heads up. That tiny little tip is going to save me so much headache in the future.
