question about Facegen head format

I was just looking for some help regarding using Facegen for Daz studio. So I have the program but am just confused how to implement a head someone has done with it for Genesis 8 female. Its in 3D Object (.fbx) format. is there a basic process on how to put a Facegen head saved in 3D Object (.fbx) format onto a Daz character?

Thx.

    The Facegen docs say:

    "Facegen v3.7:
Create -> Scan, creates face shape from 3D scan mesh (or other mesh)

Get face shape from a 3D scan (or other mesh)
The scan must be in a neutral expression
It must be in Wavefront .OBJ format
No UVs or color maps required; shape only
For color, use the Photo tab BEFOER this step"

I never used it before, but your head scan must be in Wavefront format, not .fbx.
Must be using Facegen v3.7 or later.

3D models don't come with color, so I guess it's expecting you to load a photo too, unless you're just using it to create a morph, and don't care about generating texture maps.

  • Which version of FaceGen are you using? Only FaceGen Artist Pro allows you to import head shapes into DAZ Studio. The other versions (FaceGen Modeller, FaceGen 3D Print) do not.

Also Artist Pro doesn't import .obj files as far as I know. It generates head shapes for Genesis characters using photographs.

    I'm using facegen artist pro 3 64bit.

  • If I'm not mistaken, you could load the .fbx into Blender, export out an .obj file. Then load the .obj file into FaceGen and let it morph away any of the target Genesis figures you select.

the ordinary Facegen Artist for Genesis 1&2 that I bought directly from them before they sold at DAZ does it too but yes you need an obj

it can be any head but fancy game creatures only do facial features not horns etc
